Connor Watson signs with Dragons before PNG Chiefs move
Sydney Roosters utility Connor Watson has secured his future for 2027 and beyond, agreeing to a one-year stint with the Dragons before joining the PNG Chiefs for their inaugural 2028 season.

The former NSW State of Origin utility will spend 2027 at St George Illawarra under a one-year deal aimed at adding experience to a young Red V spine, before crossing to Port Moresby to help launch the PNG Chiefs in 2028.
Watson's signing is the Dragons' most significant recruitment move of the off-season and is understood to have been pushed strongly by football boss Ben Haran under the club's new recruitment panel.
The 30-year-old said the chance to play in Wollongong before becoming a foundation player for the PNG side was 'too good a story to pass up'.
The PNG Chiefs are due to formally enter the NRL competition in March 2028.
